Discover Impactful Work:
Oversees the daily tasks of the Technical Support team as it relates to all laboratory instrumentation and equipment with an emphasis on overall lab tech support for assigned laboratory equipment. Assists Operational Group staff in laboratory operations such as scheduling, resource management, technical, personnel and compliance related issues. Assists in the planning and helps to implement improvements to processes and procedures that will increase efficiency, productivity and quality in the laboratory.
A day in the Life:
+ Assists in the daily tasks coordination of the Technical Support team while performing different tasks in the same or related fields.
+ Assists in the management in the Technical Support team’s structure, planning, objectives, budget, expense/cost control, development and training. May recommend candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.
+ Provides scientific and technical consulting. Interacts with internal and external clients on project-specific issues. Communicates status of project efforts to manager.
+ Participates in multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects progress smoothly. Attends team meetings to communicate progress of projects and issues to senior management. Works with other scientists in the department to troubleshoot equipment.
+ Responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
+ Assists in the initiation and implementation of plans to develop and improve areas in the laboratory for greater efficiency, productivity and quality.
Keys to Success:
Education
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
Experience
+ Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 5 years).
+ 1+ year of leadership responsibility
_In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role._
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Effective technical capabilities with running and troubleshooting the laboratory equipment
+ Experience with LC/MS strongly preferred
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
+ Interpersonal skills
+ Proven team management skills
+ Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office tools
+ Proven leadership skills
+ Ability to interface with instrument vendors for introducing new technology to the laboratories
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with high levels of technical staff from varying technical disciplines
+ Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Management Role
+ Directly supervises individual contributors, administrative support and/or entry-level professionals
