    Job Description

    The Project Engineer leads the engineering disciplines, on a project, to ensure the team delivers the approved project scope, on schedule, within costs, safely and to the quality that is expected. Key areas are HSE, Quality, Communication, Risk Management, Management of Change and Project Controls Interface.

    Responsibilities

    HSE Management:

    + Ensure HSE has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by engineering and design personnel.

    + Ensure that Technical Integrity and Safety in Design are not being compromised to meet schedule.

    + Ensures the design can be safely constructed, commissioned, operated, maintained, decommissioned, and abandoned/demolished.

    Project Delivery and Communication:

    + Work with the Project Manager, Manager of Engineering and Lead Engineers to assemble the project team and then continuously monitor and update the staffing plan.

    + Provide leadership, direction/motivation, guidance and project vision (which is derived from the Project Manager, client, and contract documents) to the team.

    + Clarify project objectives and technical scope to assure project meets client expectations.

    + Along with the project manager, develops the Project Execution Plan and the Engineering Plan. Also responsible to update plans when project conditions warrant.

    + Develops, executes, supervises, and coordinates all technical aspects of the work safely with primary focus on the integrity/quality of the engineering/design while achieving schedule and budget objectives.

    + Plan and co-ordinate multi-discipline engineering activities including resolution of multidiscipline technical issues and single discipline technical issues that have the potential to impact overall project progress.

    + Maintain effective communication and coordination between the Project Manager, client and the design team to ensure timeliness and accuracy of information transfer and decisions.

    + Manage project interfaces including ensuring the timely transfer of information and documentation.

    + Coordinate and integrate multidiscipline engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure deliverables (drawings, estimates, EWPs, CWPs, MR, reviews etc) are complete and correct.

    + Ensures “Holds” and areas of uncertainty are highlighted and addressed both internally and externally prior to issuance.

    + Manages the initial researching of lessons learned and promotes the ongoing capture of new lessons learned during the project.

    Quality:

    + Assists the Project Manager in implementing EMS, WPMP and the NANA Worley QMS processes and procedures on the project. Defines customer satisfaction criteria with the Project Manager and reviews these throughout the life of the project.

    + Assure checking is complete in accordance with NANA Worley procedures.

    + Identifies change in scope, schedule, budget, resources that warrants Management of Change.

    + Through the Lead Discipline Engineers, works to ensure quality of the engineering work is maintained.

    + Closes out the project and ensures the documentation is archived as required by the Operating Manual, PEP and contract.

    Risk Management:

    + Anticipates risks and opportunities to the project at all phases and works with the team and client to eliminate risk(s) or develop and implement appropriate mitigations.

    Management of Change (MoC):

    + Manages change including coordination of the completion of MOC documentation with the disciplines and ensures scope, cost and schedule impacts are documented.

    Project Controls Interface:

    + Ensures documentation of the cost of service estimate and develops the schedule with project team and Project Manager.

    + Establishes and implements the project controls plan as agreed with the Project Manager in cooperation with project controls and the disciplines.

    + Reports on project progress at regular intervals as defined in the PEP reporting including input to the Monthly Project report and reviews.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering field from an accredited institution,

    + Five (5) years work experience in an engineering/design discipline

    + Five (5) years of working experience in a project team environment for an engineering firm.

    + Working knowledge of MS Office Suite

    Preferred

    + Four (4) years of engineering/design experience on Alaska North Slope Oil/Gas or Arctic Mine Projects.

    + Two (2) years of experience in the hydrocarbon industry or mining industry.

    + Two (2) years of experience as a Discipline Lead Engineer/Designer in the Worley system

    + PMP Certification

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word word processing software; MS Excel software and current versions of AutoCAD design software.

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, word processing software, and MS Excel spreadsheet software.
