Job Description
BAE Systemsis seekingapplicants for a position as anEngineer or high-level Strategic Weapon System Technician with experience to work in the field supporting the Ohio/Vanguard Class Attack Weapon System / Strategic Weapon System (SWS) program. This person will be on-site to support the OHIO, Vanguard and future Columbia, Dreadnought Class Submarines aboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgiato support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system for Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).
The successful candidate will have the primary task of providingSSPsupport to SSBNs, SSGNs, Strategic Weapons Facility (SWF) Trident Refit Facility (TRF), Commander Submarine Squadron (CSS) and Submarine Readiness Squadrons (SRS) andSSP Technical Branches and SSP Contractors as arepresentatives of SSP.
As the Field Service Engineer for System Integration, your responsibilities span engineering management, personnel management, and customer relationship management including:
+ Drafting Memorandum of Agreement/coordinating installation cost estimates
+ Provide Training and manage OD 71706 SSP Ordnance Safety & Equipment Protection During Hot Work
+ Manage OD 70263 SSBN Maintenance Concerns, Considerations, & Maintenance
+ Facilitate problem resolution of system level weapon system issues
This position is responsible forworking with the TRF/SWF Chief Engineer, TRF Business Office, various SWF/TRF shops/codes, NAVSEA/SSP contractors and government personnel to support the successful completion of SSP installations, Unique Repairs, Special Weapons Tests and US/UK Demonstration & Shakedown Operations at the TRF and Strategic Weapons Facility.
Examples of tasks include
+ Plan, attend and participate in planning, status meetings, conferences, and communicate key events and milestones as needed
+ Assist in developing and maintaining Ordnance Documentation and instructions in conjunction with SSP, NAVSEA, SUBMEPP, and contractor organizations
+ Work with SSP to identify needs and concerns and convert needs to definable program / project tasks
+ Act as technical interface with SSP regarding the implementation of SSP concerns
+ Observe/participate SWS/AWS tests applicable to the System Contractor
+ Effectively and professionally brief TYCOM, CSS Commodores, TRF/SWF Leadership and Submarine Commanding Officers & Department Heads
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ High School Diploma with a minimum of 8 years of Attack Weapon System or Strategic Weapon System experience
+ Able to gain a DOD Security Clearance
+ Highly driven and assertive personality
+ Experience with shipboard or shipyard work with demonstrated capability of operating independently with little oversight to include: ability to climb ladders, move equipment about the entire ship and sustain prolonged standing
+ Proficient in developing weekly status reports and tracking results
+ Proficient with MS Office suite
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
+ Effective Public Speaking or presenting in from of large groups
+ Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors, contracting partners, vendors and government representatives
+ Understanding of project managerial relationships and operations.
+ Ability to exercise discernment and independent judgment and make sound decisions while complying with policies, procedures, and regulations.
+ Good planning, time management and organization skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Active DoD Security Clearance
+ BS Degree Engineering or related Sciences with 6 years of experience
+ Experience working with the TRIDENT II SWS in the Navigation, Launcher, or Fire Control systems or AWS Systems.
+ Experience with SSGN or SSBN subsystems, the interfaces, and installation of equipment
+ Understanding of SSP structure and fleet relationships
+ Familiarity with Naval drawings and SWS system equipment technical manuals
+ Proficient with MS Project
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $94728 - $161038
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
