Our Combat Missions Systems business designs and manufactures some of the world s most iconic combat vehicles and weapon systems for our nation s military. In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
The internship is a hybrid role, with 40 hours/week during the summer and part-time during the school semester. Relocation is not offered and housing is not provided. The ideal candidate should be versatile, creative, and passionate about storytelling, with the ability to produce compelling written and visual content.
As a Communications Intern you will:
+ Support the execution of the employee communications plan for employees who work on some of the most iconic, mission capable combat systems in the world
+ Build and maintain Teams SharePoint sites for functions across the business
+ Tell the stories of our employees, our community, our customers, and our values in creative and engaging ways
+ Write clear, engaging copy for blogs, social media, email newsletters, and other digital platforms, as well as special events
+ Design visual assets including graphics, infographics, and simple videos to accompany written content or to serve as standalone assets
+ Assist with content planning and contribute ideas to our editorial calendar
+ Support the creation of multi-format campaigns (written and visual)
+ Support special events and meetings as needed
+ Conduct research to support storytelling and messaging strategies
+ Collaborate with HR function to support employee engagement and communications campaigns
+ Keep employees informed about company and site-specific news and happenings
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Must be enrolled in an undergrad program (sophomore level and up) seeking a degree in English, marketing/communications, graphic design, journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field
+ Internship Work Period: The internship will run year-round and is based at BAE Systems York production facility. Applicants must be available to work 16-24 hours during the school year (2-3 days a week), and up to 40 hours a week during the summer months
+ Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for tone and audience
+ Comfortable managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
+ Highly organized and detail oriented
+ Ability to work well independently and within a team
+ Knowledge of AP Style
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Basic graphic design or video editing skills (experience with tools like Adobe Creative Suite is a plus)
+ Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications a plus
+ Bonus Points for a portfolio or samples that showcase both written and visual work
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $36668 - $49543
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
