ABOUT THIS JOB
The Program Manager for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement manages automotive parts category programs and oversees supplier relationships to support CarMax operations and business needs. This role will work with internal stakeholders to drive programs and activities based on the priorities of these internal teams. The manager will lead program initiatives and demonstrate expertise in sourcing, purchasing, and contracting. This manager is also responsible for ensuring effective and efficient procurement processes are implemented and sustained for key categories.
**Work Location and Arrangement** **:** This role will be based out of the Richmond Virginia Home Office and have a Hybrid work arrangement
**Work Authorization** : Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO – ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Work effectively with leaders, suppliers, and cross functional teams to develop, implement, and execute category programs and continually improve programs to successfully accomplish goals or objectives
+ Implement new technologies, including Oracle Supply Chain Management for parts purchasing
+ Direct strategic suppliers to meet CarMax’s program goals and objectives
+ Collaborate with category leadership to conduct needs analysis and recommend purchasing strategies to address pressing business challenges
+ Create and execute subcategory strategies to drive improvements to purchasing operations and execution
+ Manage existing programs including supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, sourcing support, and frequent review of overall supplier performance
+ Act as main point of contact for supplier issue resolution and continual program development
+ Keep current on category trends, best practices and program development
+ Analyze data, perform research and conduct observations to develop programs
+ Maintain a deep knowledge of the category managed, procurement practices and sourcing strategies
+ Champion the needs of business teams and stakeholders throughout the development process; ensure what is delivered meets the original goals and/or KPMs
+ Take a hands-on role in project management for all category programs and initiatives to ensure that programs and/or process improvements meet or exceed the needs of the business
+ Bring innovative approaches and leading-edge sourcing and procurement practices to inform thinking on category strategies
+ Demonstrate a high degree of planning, organization and self-management to meet agreed upon milestones or deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
+ 5+ years of experience in program or project management required, preferably in strategic sourcing or procurement
+ 5+ years of procurement/buying and supplier management experience required, automotive parts experience preferred
+ Excellent project management and organization skills, with exceptional attention to detail
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while driving execution in a rapidly changing environment
+ Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills;
+ Ability to handle sensitive associate and business information with utmost confidentiality
+ Ability to partner and work strategically with cross-functional teams to drive overall solutions, while appropriately managing issues and risks and large-scale change management
+ Ability to build and maintain positive and influential working relationships across all levels within the organization
+ Bachelors degree, preferred
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
+ Oracle experience preferred
