Position Summary
HIGHLIGHTS
SUNY Geneseo’s Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation department is seeking a new Zamboni Driver! Under the supervision of the rink manager and supervisor, you will be responsible for driving the Zamboni correctly and safely to ensure and maintain acceptable ice conditions.
If selected for the position, you will be trained completely on the operation and daily maintenance of the Zamboni.
SHIFT :Sundays, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Motivation to learn new skills, including ice resurfacing and ice edging, that are essential for a successful rink operation
+ Physically able to meet the requirements of the position (including lifting and moving heavy equipment like hockey nets)
+ Ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility
+ Ability to interact and communicate with students, staff, faculty, and community members to ensure the safety and well-being of participants, facilities, and equipment
+ Ability to supervise and offer direction to rink attendants
+ Ability to solve problems as they arise and perform tasks without supervision

Function 1: Resurfacing
+ Resurface the ice at designated intervals in accordance with the ice schedule provided by the rink manager
+ Follow zone maintenance personnel’s instructions regarding ice levels, blade levels, and water usage
Percentage Of Time 60%

Function 2: Schedule Management
+ Consult weekly with the arena supervisor regarding any issues with Zamboni or scheduled ice sessions
+ Control curfew clock to manage ice schedule
+ Coordinate with other part-time drivers to cover shifts if a conflict or emergency arises

Function 3: Ice Levels
+ With zone maintenance personnel, gauge and monitor the ice levels throughout the arena

Function 4: Organization & Upkeep
+ Collaborate with arena manager and zone maintenance personnel in keeping the Zamboni room organized and clear of clutter
+ Collect and dispose of debris from bleachers, benches, and penalty box area as needed

+ Complete daily general maintenance and charging of the Zamboni as needed
