A Day in the Life
As the Director, Color Designer & Product Development for essie, reporting to the Global Marketing VP, you will be the creative visionary behind essie's color identity, shaping its future and influencing global beauty trends. You will lead the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept to final launch, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative color stories to life. You'll translate consumer insights and market trends into actionable strategies, championing cutting-edge technologies and ensuring market relevance for essie's vibrant color palettes. This is a high-impact role demanding a true color expert with the passion and expertise to shape the future of nail color.
+ Drive Creative Direction & Vision: Forecast color trends, define the brand's color identity, and develop innovative color stories that resonate with consumers globally.
+ Champion Market Relevance & Consumer Focus: Analyze market trends and consumer insights to ensure product relevance, gathering feedback from various sources to inform product development strategies.
+ Lead Product Development from Concept to Launch: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Marketing, R&I, Vendors, etc.), managing shade development, timelines, and budgets.
+ Drive Innovation & Technology: Stay at the forefront of cosmetic science, identifying and translating cutting-edge technologies into consumer-relevant product ideas and benefits.
We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced color visionary with a proven track record in the cosmetics industry. They possess a deep understanding of color theory, shade development, and formulation, coupled with strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. They are a strategic thinker, able to translate market trends and consumer insights into innovative product concepts. Their passion for color is matched by their commitment to delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
+ Color Expertise: Deep understanding of color theory and its application in the cosmetics industry; technical proficiency in shade and formulation development.
+ Market Acumen: Proven ability to analyze and interpret trends, translating them into actionable product development strategies.
+ Leadership & Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; ability to build consensus and foster positive working relationships.
+ Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive product development strategies aligned with business objectives.
+ Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to achieve results on time and within budget, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

+ Salary Range: $138,500 – $200,400 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.)
