The Department of Recreation has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Program Operations to join their team, with an intended start date of no later than 09/1/2025.
University of Washington Recreation’s mission is to provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing.
The Rec Clubs manager will manage a comprehensive Rec Club program, which includes oversight and supervision of approximately 40 student sport clubs, and their associated activities including Martial Arts & Sports Skills classes, and Friday Night Archery activities. Develop and implement policies and procedures for all program operations in accordance with department, university, and applicable league rules. Provide a developmental curriculum for Club leaders. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise approximately 20 temporary staff instructors. Plan and allocate budgeted resources. Manage the Student Recreation Fund. Includes occasional evening and weekend work both on- and off- campus.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Programming
+ Maintain oversight of a comprehensive Rec Club program in accordance with the Rec Club Handbook and RSO Policy Manual to ensure compliance.
+ Advise and assist club leadership about the conduct of their program including: policy, procedure, planning, scheduling activities, tournament and event coordination, publicity and promotion, trademarks and licensing, fundraising, travel, membership, equipment purchasing, risk management, budget preparation and control of expenditures, facility reservations, and related information.
+ Develop and implement trainings and meetings with the club leadership on major policy and procedure topics of concern, including: fundraising and budget allocation, risk management and emergency response, scheduling and event coordination, and travel.
+ Establish and implement the Rec Club Handbook policies and procedures, reviewing annually to update for program and process improvement.
+ In addition to vital policy and handbook activities, develop and implement a curriculum for Club leaders.
+ Evaluate new Rec Club program requests to determine their viability and compatibility with the department before adding them as official clubs.
+ Establish and implement sport specific risk management practices, policies, and procedures.
+ Compile quarterly and annual statistical program data for department reports.
+ Serve as the department's resource on Rec Club programming related questions.
+ Perform an annual audit of the Rec Club program to evaluate and analyze based on the departments strategic plan and goals.Budgeting
+ Manage all affiliated budgets, including the Rec Club and instructional budgets, Development Fund budget, and Endowment Fund budgets. Maintain internal control of all expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance.
+ Evaluate Rec Club and instructional equipment needs and make purchases.
+ Approve Rec Club travel and handle reimbursements.
+ Work in conjunction with the Director to manage the Student Recreation Fund.Facility Management
+ In conjunction with Operations colleagues, maintain Rec Club quarterly schedule for all on-going practices, league games, tournaments, and special events. Maintain instructional classes quarterly schedules.
+ Provide on-site event coordination for major Rec Club special events (including but not limited to Rugby, Kendo, Lacrosse, Badminton, etc. tournaments).
+ Have a presence with each Rec Club at least once per quarter. This will require occasional evening and weekend work both on- and off-campus.
+ Monitor and arrange the issue of Rec Club and instructional equipment throughout the year.
+ Supervise the operations activities at all of the department facilities and fields as needed. Work cooperatively with other members of the department staff in the interest of providing a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of the University community.
+ Establish and maintain professional relationships with other UW departments, state and city park departments, and sport specific national governing bodies or associations.Personnel
+ Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the sports and martial arts instructional temporary employee staff of approximately 20.
+ Plan, develop, and implement training programs. Ensure employees have proper up-to-date training certifications for specific sports and martial arts programs and first aid administration.
+ Process semimonthly payroll in accordance with department and University policy and procedures.
+ Manage employees and schedules to meet University student and temporary employee requirements. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, and at least two years’ experience in Campus Recreation or equivalent. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Current certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (may be obtained within six months of employment).
+ Knowledge of scheduling and/or recreation management software (ex.
