The** **Stanford Center on Early Childhood** **, an initiative of the** **Stanford Accelerator for Learning** **, seeks a full time Project Lead to join our team. The Project Lead, under the direction of the Research Manager, will manage special and pilot projects for the Research Management and Strategic Initiatives Team (RMSI), which works across projects to support research teams and new areas of work at the SCEC. In addition to project management, this role will draw upon expertise in research implementation and information technology to identify and implement innovative solutions to common research needs.
_Note: This position is a 1-year fixed term appointment that may be renewed based on performance and funding. This position is eligible for a hybrid work agreement, with a minimum of three days on campus, and limited travel may be required for convenings and events. Housed at Stanford** **Graduate School of Education** **, the Stanford Accelerator for Learning (SAL) is a research hub that connects experts from the sciences, medicine, engineering, law, and humanities to expedite learning solutions for all learners. The first university-wide initiative to connect Stanford scholars across disciplines with external partners in the field, SAL bridges research, innovation, practice, and policy to achieve true system change. SAL is currently focused on six areas of research that show high need and high promise for transformational change. These areas include digital learning, early childhood education, learning differences, equity in learning, policy and systems change, and adult and workforce learning.** **The Stanford Center on Early Childhood (SCEC) is an initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning. The SCEC leverages the current moment of revolutionary science and fosters deep omnidirectional collaboration across sectors, seeking to change the way that research in early childhood is conducted, communicated, and utilized, with the overarching goal that each and every child thrives from the start.
POSITION SUMMARY
The** **Project Lead** **will report to the Research Manager and play a central role in managing special and pilot projects for the Research Management and Strategic Initiatives (RMSI) team. RMSI leverages expertise in research logistics and implementation to provide operations support across teams and serve as a temporary hub for emerging initiatives at the Center.** **This position supports cross-functional collaboration across the Center by applying strong project management practices, effective communication, and sound judgment to guide projects from planning through implementation.** **In this role, the Project Lead will be responsible for maintaining project timelines, monitoring progress toward key milestones and deliverables, and identifying needed resources such as personnel, time, and tools. They will support planning efforts, document decisions and develop workflows, and help ensure high standards through quality control. The Project Lead may also assist in synthesizing content or drafting summary materials to support the cohesion and clarity of the final product.** **Projects may include implementing operational or process improvements, coordinating research activities for pilot studies, managing deliverables involving multiple teams or stakeholders, or working with external vendors to ensure satisfactory results. The role requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and levels of seniority.** **In addition to strong project management capabilities, this position calls for someone who can identify and advocate for technical solutions that enhance workflows and systems. The Project Lead should be comfortable translating project needs into IT requirements and engaging in productive dialogue with IT professionals to ensure that solutions are practical, efficient, and aligned with broader project goals.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
+ **Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating programs, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and coordinating and implementing changes.**
+ **Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.**
+ **Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities under the general direction of PI. Assist with the development of research grants, (i.e., may suggest new funding opportunities, write portions of grants, and/or summarize data for grant support).**
+ **Manage projects across teams and levels of seniority, ensuring timely and quality production of deliverables.**
+ **Represent the function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.**
+ **May train and supervise staff.**
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
+ **Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.**
+ **Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.**
+ **Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff.**
Preferred Education & Experience:
+ **Experience or education in the fields of early childhood development, psychology, or other related fields**
+ Demonstrated experience managing complex projects from planning through implementation, with clear outcomes and stakeholder coordination.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and track progress toward key deliverables.
+ Experience supporting cross-functional collaboration, particularly in research, operations, or innovation-focused environments.
+ Familiarity with research implementation or operations in academic or nonprofit settings.
+ Ability to identify operational or technical needs and propose process or workflow improvements.
+ Comfort working with IT professionals and technical teams; ability to translate project requirements into clear technical specifications.
+ Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday, or equivalent).
+ Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable, with a collaborative working style.

The expected pay range for this position is $90,694 to $105,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
