The Role

E86 Nuclear Propulsion - Construction and Process Enginering Department is in need of a Manager Engineering 2 to provide management and technical oversight of the Nuclear Process Procedures Group that provide the standardized requirements and processes for conduct of nuclear work at NNS through RPMCP A Procedures. These requirements and processes include cleanliness, lifting and handling, fabrication, material control, shielding, and government document review.

The Nuclear Process Procedures Group is also responsible for:

• Resolving Quality Notifications (QNs) involving contractor-furnished nuclear material

• Clean plug drawings

• NNS Facility Pure Water System

• NNS Facility Nitrogen and High Pressure Air System

• Cleanliness Council

• Approved Products List (APL) and the Qualified Products List (QPL)

• Non-Nuclear Cleanliness, including SSP Procedures M-1017 and M-1019

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

+ Ability to lead a team of engineers to arrive at a solution.

+ Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Able to drive issues to completion to meet schedule needs.

+ Represents the organization as the prime technical contact and spokesperson on Nuclear Procedure issues.

+ Be able to translate issues into presentations for all levels of NNS management and customers (external and internal).

+ Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

+ Work on complex technical problems and provide solutions.
