    Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

     

    Salary: $57,151

     

    Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Transfer Admissions Specialist. The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a self-motivated, dynamic individual with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to support prospective transfer students, their families, and community college partners in navigating the transfer admissions process and credit evaluation.

     

    This position plays a key role in supporting Undergraduate Admissions by identifying, selecting, and enrolling transfer students, ensuring a smooth and successful transition to Binghamton University. The role includes both in-office responsibilities and travel to community colleges for recruitment and advising events.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Develop a working knowledge of Binghamton University, including academic programs, policies, goals, and institutional history.

    + Use and maintain technology systems including student information systems (e.g., Banner) and admissions CRMs (e.g., Slate).

    + Build and maintain relationships with community college counselors and advisors, prospective students, families, alumni, and professional organizations.

    + Review and evaluate transfer student applications using a holistic admissions process; serve on application review committees.

    + Represent Binghamton University at on-campus and off-campus events, including community college visits, transfer fairs, and admissions programs.

    + Prepare reports and develop proposals to support transfer strategy and enrollment goals.

    + Gain a solid understanding of academic curricula, general education requirements, and transfer pathways, including course-to-course equivalencies.

    + Collaborate with Academic Advising Offices and Registrar's Office to maintain and update transfer credit equivalency tables.

    + Participate in campus-wide academic advising teams and committees.

    + Assist in drafting and maintaining transfer articulation agreements.

    + Contribute to CRM database maintenance, including updating contact records, verifying data, managing communication activities, and editing information.

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Experience with public speaking

    + Analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving ability

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to work independently

    + Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

    + Ability to maintain a flexible working schedule including frequent nights and weekends

    + Possess a valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in New York State and be able to travel domestically in various environments

    + Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time

    + Ability to lift and carry boxes that weigh 25 lbs. or more

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master's degree in a related field

    + At least 1 year of experience in admissions, enrollment and/or student recruitment

    + Experience with a student information system (e.g., Banner, SLATE)

    + Experience working with and serving diverse populations

    + Knowledge of local, regional and national college counseling ethics, standards, trends, strategies and tactics
