    Job Description

    The Director of Career Services at North Hennepin Community College provides career services leadership, program management, and content expertise to the institution. The position manages work direction for the department and career-related services for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local workforce partners, which directly support the strategic mission and educational programs at the college.

     

    Operating with limited supervision, the Career Services director uses data-informed decision-making to create, implement, and manage innovative programming that provides equitable experiential and co-curricular career-building opportunities for NHCC students. The director position supervises and develops graduate interns, student workers, and underrepresented youth interns while ensuring fiscal responsibility for grant funding and department expenses.

     

    Externally, the director fosters relationships with local employers through advisory boards and committees to source internship partners and on-ramp career opportunities for students to enter the local workforce. Career Services employer partnerships support campus engagement with tabling, classroom visits, specialized career readiness programming, hiring events, and fairs.

    Salary Range:

    27.84 - 40.82 Hourly

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Three years experience working in higher education or workforce development. A master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience, and an associate degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.

    + Strong oral and written communication skills

    + Experience working with a diverse student population.

    + Personal computing/technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology.

    Preferred Qualification

    + Master’s degree

    + Experience creating and developing career and degree plans.

    + Previous experience in career, academic, or financial aid advising.

    + Familiarity with CRM tools and platforms.

    + Strong ability to learn, understand, and explain the academic standards of collegiate spaces their respective degree requirements.

    + Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development and various learning styles.

    Monday - Friday

     

    8:30 am - 4:30 pm
