Description We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. This Contract-to-Permanent position involves managing the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining effective vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will excel in fast-paced environments and bring strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to precision.
Responsibilities:
• Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper authorization.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents to ensure compliance with three-way matching standards.
• Resolve discrepancies by collaborating with internal departments and vendors, securing necessary approvals for invoice processing.
• Enter invoices into the accounting system, applying accurate general ledger coding.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems for accounts payable documentation.
• Communicate with vendors to address payment status inquiries, discrepancies, and account concerns.
• Execute weekly payment runs, including checks and electronic transfers.
• Ensure vendor master file information is accurate and up-to-date, including current W-9 forms.
• Prepare accounts payable aging reports and assist with month-end closing procedures.
• Support annual audits by providing requested documentation and reconciling vendor statements. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, with experience in Epicor Prophet 21 being a plus.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with electronic payment systems and vendor portals.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, preferably with experience in retail or the appliance industry.
• Excellent communication skills for vendor and internal team interactions.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability to new processes and tools.
