Description We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Bookkeeper to join our team in Alexandria, Virginia. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth operations within the accounting department. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization while honing your financial expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Record and maintain detailed financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
• Reconcile bank statements to ensure financial data accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and present financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for both internal and external use.
• Monitor and manage budgets, working closely with management to align with financial objectives.
• Process payroll while tracking employee hours and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and filing deadlines.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures to maintain financial integrity.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
• Support audits and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Maintain proficiency in accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to assist in strategic decision-making. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or financial administration.
• Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll systems, and month-end closing procedures.
