    Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:The selected candidate will be a vital team member within the Region 1 Regional Office organizational structure. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will typically provide support to one designated functional team within the Regional Office but may provide additional or alternative coverage when Regional Office needs deem this necessary. The functional teams within the Regional Office include: Front Door, Waiver Services, Eligibility, Self-Direction, Housing, Crisis, Property/Development, Fiscal, and Quality Management/Technical Assistance. The selected candidate will work to ensure excellent quality in Regional Office operational standards. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will serve as a supervisor on the Regional Office Crisis Team. The incumbent will be the primary contact person between the Regional Office, OPWDD provider agencies and various community resources outside of the OPWDD service system. This position has daily contact with one or more of the community partner agencies and is responsible for developing and maintaining a cross-system approach to supporting individuals and their families. The incumbent is also the primary resource for the Regional Office in providing guidance and oversight of Licensed Masters Social Workers on the Region 1 Crisis Team. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required to meet organizational needs. Occasional travel within the 17-county region may be required. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 1. Serve as a member of the Regional Office providing the full range of services to individuals and families.2. Provide supervision and training of subordinate staff. Serve as a Crisis Team Supervisor.3. Participate in activities such as screening and/or assessing individuals psychosocial needs, strengths and limitations. 4. Assist with reviewing and assessing individual’s need for OPWDD services and supports. 5. Communicate with key stakeholders, including staff in various departments in the Regional Office, Central Office, Care Management Agencies and Voluntary Provider Agencies.6. Serve as a liaison between the Regional Office and the individuals/families we serve, along with provider agencies and other referring entities. 7. Responding to family and community inquiries regarding crisis/ forensic/ cross systems issues;8. Preparing reports, summaries and executive correspondence for OPWDD administration and outside stakeholders;9. Serve as a point person for communication to various cross system partners.10. Work with the local courts and police departments and serve as support to those systems; 11. Work collaboratively with the Front Door and other Regional Office functional groups; 12. Provide support across the various departments in the Regional Office as needed.13.     Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: possession of a license and current registration as a licensed clinical social worker in New York State.

     

    Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.If you are hired under the HELPs program, you will first be appointed as a temporary employee. In June 2025, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period will begin and you may take any promotion exams for which you are qualified.• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume.• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
