ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Finance Department is looking for motivated and qualified candidates to join our team as a Financial Analyst I/II within the Budget and Financial Planning Division. As a Financial Analyst I/II, you’ll work closely with departments across the County to help plan and manage financial resources that directly support essential public services. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience developing and monitoring budgets, maintaining financial systems, conducting fiscal analysis and modeling, and growing professionally as part of a collaborative, supportive team.

Financial Analyst I: $30.32 - $47.03 Hourly
Financial Analyst II: $32.74 - $50.81 Hourly
The Financial Analyst I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Financial Analyst II.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Financial Analyst I - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or related field. Experience in a public agency setting and/or an appropriate advanced degree desirable.
Financial Analyst II - In addition to the above: Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in budget development and administration and/or cost and revenue projection and control.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
+ Conducts fiscal and administrative analyses to County departments, the County Manager, the Board of Commissioners and various intergovernmental agencies; evaluates problem resolution and recommends problem resolution.
+ Coordinates and/or directs the development of annual budgets (operating, supplemental and capital improvement) for assigned departments and functions; prepares historical information, revenue projections and related information for internal use and distribution to County management and the Board of Commissioners.
+ Maintains fiscal oversight for assigned functional areas within the County; reviews and approves departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary and policy guidelines; recommends and implements budget adjustments as required.
+ Coordinates departmental activities with those of other governmental agencies, underwriters and rating agencies; represents the department and the County in meetings with such organizations and with a variety of public and private organizations and makes presentations as required.
+ Conducts a variety of technical, operational and analytical studies; conducts independent research; evaluates alternatives and makes recommendations; prepares technical, statistical and narrative reports; writes and reviews grant and funding requests and various intergovernmental service agreements.
+ Conducts County-wide training programs related to budget planning and administration, strategic planning, cost benefit analysis and compliance with fiscal and administrative guidelines; provides information to the public on an individual or group basis.
+ Performs County management support activities such as preparing Board agenda items; conducting studies for Board of Commissioner requests and assessing the financial impact of proposed legislation.
+ Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
+ May direct the work of others on a project or day-to-day basis.
+ Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
+ May operate a County or personal vehicle or arrange for transportation to visit various work sites and attend off-site meetings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
