    Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Clinical Physician 2 position will provide medical direction/guidance for our service recipients and their staff within our group homes/IRAs and when hospitalized. They act as an advocate for our residents when difficult medical concerns arise as well as provide guidance with end-of-life questions. The Clinical Physician 2, along with the full-time medical director, will discuss individual medical problems and EOL care with the primary care MDs, as well as with the hospital-based physicians/clinicians when needed for the individuals. At times the Clinical Physician 2/Medical Director will assist the service recipient by visiting the individual at the hospital along with meeting with hospital staff and family members during a hospitalization to review care and treatment and/or EOL care deliberations. The Clinical Physician 2 is the part-time medical director, providing support to the full-time director in all aspects of the medical director's duties. The clinical physician 2 will review current department of health legislation and how to implement requirements for our staff and residents. The Clinical Physician 2 provides support and guidance to our Infection control nurses, nursing administrators, Article 16 psychiatric clinic team and other Article 16 programs within Western NY. The Clinical Physician 2 also provides medical direction to our administrative directors. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Work collaboratively with Nursing, Psychiatry, physical/occupational/speech therapists and nutrition services to develop individualized therapy plans as necessary. • Travel to local hospitals for visits to individuals, consultation with medical providers and advocacy. • Review discharge plans from hospitalizations to resume care in residences. Educate staff on hospitaldischarge plans. • Prescribe medications and other treatments to treat medical issues. • Maintain medical records in the EHR system and provide justification for billed services. Including signing EHR treatment plans including annual assessments, requests, and routine reviews from services listed above.• Discuss patient condition, treatment, and prognosis with family members and caregivers and answers their questions.• Work with multidisciplinary treatment teams to help maintain optimal physical functioning for individuals.• Develop and implement training programs for staff.• Participate in Meetings and training as appropriate.• Other duties as assigned.LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all#LI-BD1

     

    Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Competitive Minimum Qualifications:Must be in title or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service. If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Clinical Physician 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited permit was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.**For the purpose of this position: Qualifying post-licensure medical experience is general medical experience in a private, clinical, or hospital medical practice which includes diagnosing and treating illness and injuries, interpreting x-rays and laboratory tests, conducting physical examination, and basic primary preventative care. This would include but is not limited to experience in the practice of internal medicine, family medicine, preventative medicine, or emergency medicine.
