RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will supervise or serve as a team leader on capital construction projects of technical complexity or that impact operations or infrastructure. Responsible for new construction, rehabilitation and troubleshooting of systems such as Permanent Power, Emergency Power and Generators, Lighting, Telecomm, Datacomm, Renewable Energy, Public Address, CCTV, Relay Logic Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, Building Management Systems, Fire and Smoke Alarms, and Methane Detection Systems, Security Systems and Access Control and other various electrical systems. Perform design assessments/cost estimates for issuance of technical reports and modification requests. Prepare fundamental/complex portions of the design plan for major projects such as construction, remodeling, operation, maintenance or repair of structures or installations. Inspect equipment and materials for acceptance; Supervise the operation and maintenance of
alterations and repairs; Participate in engineering investigations as directed. Prepare construction documents including drawings, technical specifications and cost estimates. Monitor field survey and construction inspection to ensure compliance with technical codes and/or contract documents (drawings and specifications).
DESIRED SKILLS
Ability to design electrical systems including preparation of technical specifications and cost
estimates.
Knowledge of interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards (NEC,
NYC/NYS, Building Codes).
Knowledge of the capital and operating construction process in both design and construction field
operations.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Office, Access and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in CAD Programs such as Bentley Micro Station.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four years of full ‐ time
experience in electrical engineering. A master's degree in electrical engineering from an
accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full ‐ time experience
in electrical engineering.
**In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in
Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last
three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project
requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct
the project.
