    Immunohistochemistry & Histology Specialist, SSF Histology Labs

    Purpose and Scope:

    The Disease Mechanism Research team is seeking a candidate to support the daily operations of the Histology laboratory at our West Coast Innovation Center (South San Francisco, CA).

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    + Processes fresh human and small animal tissue for both fixed and frozen samples

    + Embeds, and sections human and small animal tissue for paraffin and frozen samples.

    + Performs chromogenic, immunofluorescent, and H&E staining on slides using manual, Leica Bond Rx, and HistoCore Spectra methods.

    + Develops chromogenic single and multiple stains for both manual and autostainer methods.

    + Maintains the tissue network contracts, samples delivery and samples inventory.

    + Maintains equipment service contracts, schedules, and reagent/ancillary inventory.

    + Conducts quality control procedures and maintains detailed records.

    Required Qualifications:

    + BS degree in Biology or Immunology, or a MS degree in a related field, with 3+ years of experience in histology techniques, including trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy/cryotomy, special staining, and immunohistochemistry (manual and automatic)

    Preferred

    + Experience with Olympus VS200 and HALO imaging quantification software

    + Experience with Leica Bond, Leica Pegasus and Histocore Arcadia

    + Familiar with Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) techniques

    Working Environment:

    + This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, USA and requires on-site work.

    **Salary Range** **:** $83,300 -$119,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
