Job Description
As a Software/Hardware Test Engineer, you will provide Design for Test (DFT) direction to Research & Development (R&D) from the concept stage through new product development. You will be responsible for test development and continuous improvement for test solutions on the PNT product portfolio. You will design, develop, and influence automated production systems required to implement product test strategies and partner with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to develop contract manufacturing-ready and reliable test systems, jigs, and fixtures. Your role will involve optimizing calibration and test processes for coverage, capability, and test stand capacity, ensuring detailed project planning for timely development, documentation, debugging, deployment, and validation of test solutions and processes for new product pilot runs. You will effectively use quality tools such as statistical process control and measurement uncertainty to ensure test solutions are stable and in control. Additionally, you will install and validate production systems at final production facilities with contract manufacturers in the USA and Asia.
Responsibilities
+ Provide DFT direction to R&D from concept stage through new product development.
+ Develop and continuously improve test solutions for the PNT product portfolio.
+ Design, develop, and influence automated production systems for product test strategies.
+ Partner with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to develop reliable test systems, jigs, and fixtures.
+ Optimize calibration and test processes for coverage, capability, and test stand capacity.
+ Ensure detailed project planning for timely development, documentation, debugging, deployment, and validation of test solutions.
+ Use quality tools such as statistical process control and measurement uncertainty to ensure test solutions are stable.
+ Install and validate production systems at final production facilities with contract manufacturers in the USA and Asia.
Essential Skills
+ Test development and engineering experience.
+ Software testing and automated functional testing.
+ Proficiency in C programming and knowledge of RF products and basic electrical test equipment.
+ Experience in software development with programming languages such as C, Python, and C++.
+ 5 years of experience in programming, hardware/software development, and manufacturing processes.
+ Proficiency in test equipment and lab windows.
+ Knowledge of ANSI standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
+ Minimum 5 years’ experience developing automated functional tests, both hardware and software.
+ Programming experience in test automation using LabWindows CVI or NI TestStand.
+ SQL database programming experience for test record and data management.
+ Competence in RF, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing concepts.
+ General knowledge of statistical process control concepts and use of tools for analysis and reporting.
+ Knowledge of industry-standard test technologies and methods using various test equipment.
+ Written documentation experience including test specifications, procedures, installation instructions, interconnects, assembly drawings, and preventive maintenance.
+ Project planning experience with effective communication skills.
+ Leadership skills and self-motivation.
+ Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the time to contract manufacturing sites.
Work Environment
This role offers a long-term contract opportunity within an R&D Testing environment focused on upgrades to testing equipment. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, in an office setting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
