    Job Title: Pipe Welder

     

    Pay: $20-35+/hour dependent on experience

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder with expertise in multi-pass welding for all positions, including fillet and butt welds, using the SMAW process. The ideal candidate will have the ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe using both SMAW and GTAW processes, as well as proficiency in mirror welding.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform multi-pass welding for all positions using SMAW and GTAW processes.

    + Fuse inserts and weld various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipes.

    + Utilize heating equipment such as the Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.

    + Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.

    + Use fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale effectively.

    + Interpret blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures.

    + Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.

    + Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting materials with powered saws to match measurements.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in SMAW and TIG welding processes.

    + Ability to weld carbon and stainless steel using TIG welding techniques.

    + 3-5 years of experience in pipe welding with various techniques including electric, gas, arc, or other equipment.

    + Must pass SMAW 6-inch weld test.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.

    + Experience with industrial shutdowns and construction jobs.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

    Work Environment

     

    This position involves working on various construction projects throughout Hampton Roads, including the Ameresco job in Norfolk. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 4 PM, with occasional Saturdays.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
