    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of experience in an environmental, natural resource management, or regulatory enforcement program; OR

    Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

    A bachelor’s degree.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    The incumbent of this position adheres to LDEQ regulations and updates related to public notices for draft, proposed, or technically complete permit applications for all media (i.e., water, air, solid and hazardous waste). Confers with the permit writer or DEQ staff member on required information to be included in the public notice and coordinates with publishing media (newspaper, radio station, etc.) on publication dates, deadlines, etc. Drafts all correspondence and distributes for each entity in accordance with regulations. Assures mailout of public notice to all registered on facility mailout list. Assures quality assurance on all publications. Coordinates with public libraries and other repositories regarding access to the documents submitted. Finalizes and updates draft notices in TEMPO.

    Position-Specific Details:

    This announcement will be used to fill multiple vacancies in the Permits Support and LELAP section of the Public Participation and Permit Support Division within the Office of Environmental Services. All vacancies are domiciled in Baton Rouge.

     

    This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotions of permanent classified employees. If the positions are filled as job appointments, they could be converted to probational appointments should funding become available.

    As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Environmental Project Specialist 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.     There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) for this position, as follows:

    Environmental Project Specialist 1- $17.07 per hour or $1,365.00 biweekly

     

    Environmental Project Specialist 2- $19.55 per hour or $1,563.40 biweekly

     

    Environmental Project Specialist 3- $22.38 per hour or $2049.20 biweekly
