Purpose
Responsible for handling all credit-related activities including: the completion of credit presentations, identifying lending and cross-sell opportunities, structuring loan transactions, building financial models, negotiating documentation, and monitoring compliance and industry trends. Contributes to the overall success of the Infrastructure, Corporate Banking team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You’ll Do
+ Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
+ Assists with the execution of transactions, including: (i) preparation/review/analysis of term sheets, financial models, (ii) Structure, analyze, and perform thorough due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity with a deep understanding of credit products and provides concise rationale supporting actions and s, and, (iii) managing the closing and monitoring of transactions
+ Prepares credit presentations in accordance with Bank policy, risk assessments and developing recommendations for appropriate courses of action.
+ Monitors client reporting and raises any concerns on a timely basis, including following Banks Early Warning processes.
+ Expands industry and product knowledge while developing relationships with clients, lenders, bank counsel and third-party advisors/consultants within the Infrastructure sector
+ Coordinates and works closely with product partners within GBM
+ Plays a key role in the training, development and coaching of Analysts and Associates
+ Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
+ Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring
+ 5+ years of corporate banking and/or credit experience
+ MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation is highly preferred
+ Strong credit and financial modelling skills
+ Strong documentation and negotiation skills
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
+ A high level of attention to detail
+ The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
+ The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
+ The ability to perform effectively in a team environment
+ High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
+ Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
+ A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
+ Independent thinker and proven ability to make decisions
+ Strong knowledge of lending products and risk processes, and associated legal documentation, to facilitate prompt execution of transactions
+ Working knowledge of other GBM products & areas including Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Foreign Exchange, Corporate Risk Solutions and Global Business Payments
+ Understanding of private equity, project finance and/or public private partnerships
+ Ability to work with, modify and/or develop sensitivity scenarios for financial models
+ Solid financial accounting knowledge
+ Strong analytical reading, written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to provide succinct analysis of key risks and mitigants by utilizing credit knowledge and analytical skills for existing or proposed new transactions
+ Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
+ Excellent organizational and presentation skills
+ Maintains a professional approach in any client interaction
+ Promotes cooperation, teamwork, and professional internal and external relationships
