THE POSITION
If you are an accomplished lead project engineer with a strong background in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Software, we have an exceptional opportunity awaiting you. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (DOT) is actively seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation). In this role, you will leverage advanced engineering practices and principles to provide invaluable technical support to users across the PennDOT central office, district offices, other agencies, and engineering consulting firms. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will serve as the lead project engineer, using CADD software to facilitate communication between the DOT central office and engineering districts on various design initiatives and publications. Your responsibilities will include developing workflows, routines, and software to maintain and improve 3D CADD-related engineering tools, guided by the department's design and construction publications. You will apply advanced engineering principles to assess and implement new technologies that enhance engineering automation for the agency. Additionally, you will create standards and specifications for these technologies, provide training and support to engineering staff, and conduct independent studies to evaluate the software's benefits to the agency.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
+ Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
+ Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline .
