Job Description:
Under the direction of the CNA Lead Instructor, this position helps train students in the required curriculum to earn their CNA certification. Clinical Nurse Instructors work directly with high school students at the Canyons Technical Education Center classroom/lab and support/supervise their learning at various care facilities throughout the Salt Lake Valley. This position is part of a team of nurses that is dedicated to supporting the growth of young people towards their goal of becoming a CNA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Supervise students during clinical assignments at care facilities
+ Ability to work 1 to 2 times per week from 2:30 PM-8:30 PM, and 3-5 days each semester from 7:30AM-2:00 PM
+ Utilization of medical devices as trained and needed (e.g., catheters, syringes, feeding tubes).
+ Keep current with information and skills in medical field.
+ Possess positive interpersonal skills-kind, respectful, and committed to the ideal that all students can learn when given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate, and equitable.
+ Professional conduct-punctual, reliable and has excellent time management skills. Uses tact, patience, and courtesy when dealing with people.
+ Adhere to the work schedule supplied by the instructor.
+ Attends al trainings, briefings, and other meetings as needed.
+ Predictable and reliable attendance.
NON ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:
+ Requires current LPN or RN licensure. Verification will be requested.
+ Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with at least one year in a long term care facility and/or caring for the elderly or chronically ill.
+ Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check.
+ Requires high school diploma, GED or equivalent as reviewed by the Department of Human Resources. Verification may be requested.
NOTE-The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges may be made between training and experience.
