Job Summary

The Associate Director of Residential Life will lead the selection, supervision, training and leadership development of the residential life student staff. This position coordinates with campus partners across the division to support students who are facing challenges including mental health issues, bias, gender violence, substance use issues, homesickness, academic struggles, inter-personal conflict, and other difficulties associated with transitioning to college life. This position supervises the Assistant Director in administrating all aspects of the College House program.
Essential Functions:
+ Work with students affiliated with the Residential Life Office by being the initial contact for residential life student staff as it relates to resident support and wellness.
+ Utilize restorative practices to shape community expectations and facilitate and mediate conflicts.
+ Ensure that the Residential Life student staff have the skills and tools they need to create and oversee inclusive, safe, and engaging residential spaces.
+ Supervise the Assistant Director, serve on student support teams, and participate in the on-call rotation.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $67,300 – $71,900.

Education/Skills Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Degree in education or related field.
+ Knowledge of a residential liberal arts college administration and cultural norms gained through a liberal arts education.
+ Proven ability to design, implement, and assess topical and developmentally appropriate student leadership programs.
+ Ability to exercise exceptional judgment, even in the absence of clear and direct guidance, ensure strict confidentiality, and demonstrate outstanding professionalism across a range of situations.
+ Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow staff colleagues.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
1-3 years related experience required; 4-7 preferred.
+ Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and motivating a diverse student staff team.
+ Demonstrated experience with crisis management skills, including problem-solving and critical thinking.
+ Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Google Suite and social media.
+ StarRez database experience preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours
This is an exempt level position that requires the time commitment to complete the essential duties of the position. This is a part/full-time position working 40 hours/48 weeks, (0.92 FTE ) with l evening or weekends required as needed. Standard administrative hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm.
