APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $80,053.92 to $120,122.64 PAY GRADE: 40
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This posting is for the Major Source Permitting Branch in the Bureau of Air Pollution Control (BAPC) located in Reno. The Permitting Branch is tasked with maintaining air quality in the growing State by implementing state and federal regulations and ensuring air emissions are not in violation of the Nevada Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The duties of permitting include reviewing Title V permit applications, communicating with facilities to get additional information, calculating potential-to-emit (PTE) emissions for air pollutants, conducting Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) applicability determinations, reviewing state and federal regulations, drafting Title V air quality operating permits, writing technical reviews, and peer reviewing other permit writers' work. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
