Western Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator or Clinical Education Specialist to join our team!

The Nurse Educator, a professional registered nurse, has the authority, responsibility and accountability for delivery of nursing education. Orientation, continuing education and ongoing support for the nursing staff are the main objectives. The Nurse Educator must demonstrate the knowledge and educational skills necessary to assess, plan and provide the educational programs that are required.

Starting rate: $36.70

The **Clinical Education Specialist** at Western Psychiatric Hospital is a leadership role focusing on designing, implementing, and evaluating education and training programs for nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and support personnel. The Clinical Education Specialist ensures that education aligns with evidence-based psychiatric practices, regulatory standards, and the hospital’s mission to provide high-quality mental health care.

Starting rate: $39.99

The role emphasizes fostering clinical excellence through competency development, professional growth, and mentoring, while supporting the unique challenges and specialized needs of psychiatric nursing in an acute care environment. Behavioral Health experience is preferred. This role will support 10 inpatient units, Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), Center for Interventional Psychiatry, and others.

+ Support staff competency assessments and training.

+ Ensure compliance with safety and care standards.

Nurse Educator:

+ BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)

+ Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

+ Relevant teaching experience

Clinical Education Specialist:

+ MSN or Master's in related field, OR DNP

+ If masters in related field required, BSN required

+ Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.

+ Relevant teaching experience.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireUPMC approved certification preferred

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

+ Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

+ Registered Nurse (RN)

+ Act 33 with renewal

+ Act 34 with renewal

+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
