    Develops and executes test plans on pre-release, upgrades and current versions of software. Develops automated test plans and tools. Evaluates compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software. Develops quality assurance programs to meet established quality assurance standards. Writes code and testing protocols and plans. Implements activities that generally impact important components / processes of the work of own unit / team / projects. Typically assigned to important / complicated undertakings. Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of the professional function and in-depth specialization in some. Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur. Has proven experience in identifying the relationship of bugs to software code. Is proficient in C, C++; UNIX and/or NT systems. Also is familiar with web design, HTML, XML, Perl and Java. Interacts with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization. Receives work in the form of short- and mid-term assignments that regularly require the application of independent judgment. Mentors less experienced members of the team. Work is subject to regular supervisory review at defined milestones. Operates within the context of approved methods.

    What you’ll be doing:

    Tests and evaluates in-house and third-party software to ensure compliance with organizational standards and requirements.

     

    Creates tests to ensure software meets user needs.

     

    Creates and maintains project test plans.

     

    Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status.

     

    Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrates them into business processes to address the needs of the business.

     

    Documents all problems and assists in their resolution.

     

    Performs work under minimal supervision.

     

    Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

     

    Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.

     

    Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to junior associates.

     

    May act as a lead.

     

    Competencies: Detail oriented. Planning skills. Analytical thinking skills. Leadership skills.

    What you bring to the table:

    + Hands on experience in QA methodologies, Java, Selenium, TestNG and Object Model automation framework

    + What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s in Computer Science 7+ years or Masters in Computer Science and 5+ years) of proven QA experience or equivalent work experience.

    + 5-7 years of related experience in quality engineering.

    + Experience with enterprise level web applications testing, QA tools, and methodologies.

    + Experience in developing test automation scripts. Programming skills and experience in at least one development language (OO/Java/Python/Perl preferred).

    + Proven Quality Engineering automation experience using Selenium.

    + Ability to multi-task, work independently and collaboratively, adapt easily to shifting priorities.

    + Work experience in retail or e-commerce to successfully support Staples regression testing.
