The AIT Technician will Assemble, Integrate, and Test all aspects of Intergalactic's aerospace systems and components, to execute on program mission successes, delivering quality hardware, and aiding the programs on all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from when the program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical product to the customer. AI&T technicians will work with and around high voltage electricity and subsystems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Work closely with the engineering team to develop test procedures, plans, and schedules.
+ Accurately read and interpret engineering models, drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, specifications, and testing requirements.
+ Proactively address uncertainties by engaging with engineering and technical staff to clarify, resolve, and correct issues.
+ Competently operate machines, hand tools, power tools, and refrigerant equipment in an aerospace AS9100 environment.
+ Set up and operate precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and electrical/optical measuring instruments.
+ Stage, assemble, install, and inspect aerospace mechanical, electrical, and fluid components using engineering drawings, specifications, assembly instructions, and test procedures.
+ Lead the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of assemblies from component to system level.
+ Conduct component and flight vehicle checkouts, including leak and system checks.
+ Lead operations for handling and integration of aerospace and spacecraft assemblies.
+ Operate equipment like hoists, lifts, tugs, and other ground support equipment.
+ Coordinate with crew members to meet program deadlines.
+ Perform assembly and checkouts on ground support equipment for aerospace and spacecraft operations.
+ Collaborate with various engineering teams to develop assembly work instructions, SOPs, and test procedures.
+ Direct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
+ Set up new production areas, including tooling and equipment.
+ Manage routine maintenance like daily cleanup to support 5S, FOD, clean room, and safety guidelines.
+ Utilize written, verbal, listening, and visual communication skills to ensure accuracy in interactions.
+ Identify issues proactively and recommend enhancements.
+ Take responsibility for personal and team performance to foster continuous improvement.
+ Administer tests on high-value assets including vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, and other MIL-STD and NASA standard tests.
+ Review and acknowledge internal document control, coordination memos, and SOPs.
+ Assist project managers and system engineers in program meetings.
+ Deliver presentations to program teams and customers.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
+ High school diploma or equivalent with high scores in science and mathematics; post-secondary engineering or technical degree preferred.
+ 5 years of experience working in aviation, aerospace, or space industry in a technical, hands-on capacity working with test, flight and safety critical hardware assemblies that require high attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
+ 5+ years in mechanical or electrical assembly, integration, and/or test.
+ Handling of large aerospace components.
+ Assembly of structures with tight tolerances.
+ High voltage safety (480VAC, 208VAC, 270VDC, 900+VDC).
+ ESD safety.
+ General knowledge in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication, preferably in clean room environments.
+ Soldering, brazing, or welding.
+ Root cause and corrective action methodologies (e.g., wishbone diagram, 5 Whys, 8-step, Six-Sigma).
+ Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW preferred.
+ Basic proficiency in 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
+ Must pass a background check and drug screen upon offer of employment.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a passport.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance if required by the program.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional overnight travel, often lasting up to one week, to customer facilities and offsite testing is expected for this position.
International travel may be required.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full-time hourly crew members are expected to work a baseline of 40 hours per work week, although a priority is placed on achieving results rather than tracking time. Daily schedules may vary, but most employees work between 7am to 5pm. Intergalactic follows a 9/80 work week.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time. This role requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance from other workers or equipment. Work may be performed on top of, or underneath equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in an indoor office, R&D, and production environment and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers. Laboratory environment requires PPE use including safety glasses and closed-toe shoes. Occasionally, hearing protection, ESD equipment, and gloves will be used. This role routinely uses both paper and electronic record keeping systems and communication equipment.
WORK AUTHORIZATION
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
