Job Summary
The University of Michigan Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a talented full-time clinical track faculty member to participate in the clinical, administrative, and teaching aspects of the Child Psychiatry Program with specific focus on psychotherapy for children and families.
The applicant will be an active participant in our child psychiatry specialty clinic and services, especially in relation to child and adolescent anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. In addition, this faculty member will be involved with multidisciplinary training of health professionals.
This position will report through the Associate Medical Director in the Child Psychiatry Section and work closely with a dynamic team of faculty and staff across the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section.
The candidate will join a dynamic group of faculty, partnering with a leadership team that values clinical and educational excellence and innovation. This position will report through the Associate Medical Director in the Child Psychiatry Program and work closely with a dynamic team of faculty and staff across the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program. Additionally, they will provide teaching to fellows and residents at the University of Michigan. Opportunities for clinical research and quality improvement are available for interested faculty. It is anticipated this faculty member will be affiliated with the Child OCD and Anxiety Disorders Program and involved in collaborative research and development activities with them, and other relevant programs over time.
Educational Activities
Outpatient supervisor and preceptor for child psychiatry, psychology, and social work interns and fellows; psychiatric house staff; mid-level providers; pediatric house staff and/or practicum and medical students. Didactic lectures for multidisciplinary trainees including pediatricians, medical students, general psychiatry/pediatric residents, psychology practicum students and fellows; social work interns and fellows; child psychiatry fellows; and offering clinical skills verification as indicated. There will be opportunities to teaching core curriculum, mentorships in psychotherapy, medical student teaching, and journal club. The successful candidate will be involved in trainee recruitment and interviewing.
Administration
The successful candidate will be expected to attend Faculty Meetings within the Department of Psychiatry; at minimum this will include regular meetings of the early childhood team, Academic Staff, All-Staff, Physicians Meetings or Child Psychology Faculty Meetings, and other administrative meetings deemed necessary by their reporting supervisor. In addition to timely attention to pertinent administrative work (e.g., electronic medical record and in basket monitoring, phone calls, letters, records, e-mails, etc.), the new faculty member will participate in all relevant quality improvement initiatives and activities.

Required Qualifications*
A PhD in Clinical Psychology with experience in child and adolescent psychology, or a Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathy is required. Possession of a current license to practice in the State of Michigan is necessary. Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychology or a residency in Psychiatry is required. Physician candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Child Psychiatry. Applicants must have demonstrated promise for an academic career that emphasizes clinical care, teaching, and administration. Superior clinical competencies and master teacher skills are necessary and be an active member in good standing of the University of Michigan Medical Staff. Comfort with providing mental health care to patients with significant physical health or developmental needs is necessary.
Desired Qualifications*
+ Training and expertise in Exposure and Response prevention for youth OCD and related Disorders.
+ Training and expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for youth Anxiety.
