Responsibilities What to Expect Direct responsibility may include any combination of the following personnel functional areas: employee relations, wage/classification, employee development, labor relations, employee benefits, background checks, etc. Provides expertise, guidance, consultation and support on a wide variety of personnel issues to management officials, supervisors and employees in the area of personnel management. Performs a variety of duties that require the application of the full range of personnel theories, principles, methods and techniques. Utilizes a wide range of HR principles, practices, and regulations sufficient to perform detailed analyses and draw conclusions on complex issues, problems, and situations. Assist in preparing personnel directives, special reports and correspondence. Ensures that internal management control programs over personnel operations are in compliance with all current and applicable regulations. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, approving time, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications What are we looking for? Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND four years of knowledge and experience in any combination or all of the following Employee Relations areas; background checks, benefits (retirement), leave programs and workers' compensation. OR an appropriate combination of education and substantial human resources experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR substantial human resources experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Must have the ability to supervise and/or lead employees in the accomplishment of work. Knowledge of NAF human resources policies and procedures preferred.
