    Overview

     

    Job Summary: The Controller – BCRI works along-side the Executive Director to analyze, develop, negotiate, and finalize department budgets and contracts along with performing monthly and annual budget reviews for the Baptist Clinical Research Institute. The controller will handle invoicing for both industry and federal entities as well as any private entity (e.g. IRB Invoicing). The Controller keeps updated knowledge of and follows compliance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, Federal and Sponsor regulations and guidelines, BMHCC, and BCRI policies and procedures. The Controller maintains and assures accuracy of all department budgets and billing, invoicing, and tracking of these activities through the CTMS (clinical trials management system). The Controller develops Coverage Analyses, Comprehensive Cost-Time Analyses and develops and implements policies to support internal contracting guidelines and processes. The Controller is also responsible for the financial waterfall, aging report, accounts payable, financial reconciliation in CTMS-VELOS, and month-end close activities. The Controller will work with the Executive Director and other relevant members of BCRI team for budget negotiations for clinical trials and contracts.

    Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for overall financial management of the department including but not limited to capital and operational budgeting, variance analysis and pro-forma generation as well as management of resources within financial and workload standards.

    + Responsible for overall operational management including but not limited to hiring, training, supervising, counseling, evaluating all employees and maintaining regulatory requirements.

    + Develop and maintain a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. Provides leadership through communicating the BMHCC vision/values, coaching and setting of departmental policies and goals.

    + Responsible for communicating and interacting with key internal and external customers.

    + Coordinates the listing and accounting for assets and related depreciation calculations

     

    Other duties may be performed as assigned. Travel may be required.

     

    This position is on-site only.

     

    Remote working privileges will be activated.

    Some of the most important attributes include:

    Strong analytical skills and a clear understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting standards. Should be well-versed in using accounting software and tools to analyze and interpret financial data.

     

    Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information. Should be able to spot errors and discrepancies quickly and take appropriate action to correct them.

     

    Strategic mindset to support BCRI’s short-term and long-term goals, display ability to recognize possible risks and opportunities and derive meaningful insights to assist BCRI’s goals.

     

    Ethical integrity to ensure compliance with financial regulations and show a strong sense of integrity and commitment to professional conduct. Should be uphold the Baptist values and culture of transparency and accountability.

    Preferred / Desired

    Experience

    3 years of accounting/finance experience and 3 years of contract analysis and contract negotiations

     

    Required. Clinical trial sponsor budget negotiation

     

    Sponsor billing.

     

    Experience in finance/accounting.

     

    Experience working in clinical research, healthcare

     

    Finance and /or pharmaceutical industry. Experience

     

    Working with industry sponsored research. CRO

     

    Experience. Knowledge in the pharmaceutical

     

    Industry Knowledge in clinical research study

     

    Proposals and funding

    Education

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business.

     

    Knowledge of basic financial principles and compliance standards such as CMS guidelines and anti-kickback statutes and regulations. Ability

     

    to read and understand basic legal and contract

     

    terminology. Ability to read and understand clinical

     

    trial protocols. Financial analysis skills, project

     

    management skills and analytical decision making

     

    skills, financial projections

     

    Masters’s degree in Accounting Finance or Business

     

    related field.

     

    certifications such as ACRP or CCRC will be a plus
