We have an exciting **onsite** opportunity for a **Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) Engineering Design and Product Definition (PD) Director (M7)** at our East Hartford, Connecticut location!
What You Will Do:
The MSEN Engineering Design and Product Definition (PD) Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical execution for the Design and PD discipline contributions relating to the design, development, validation, certification, production and aftermarket support for MSEN modules and hardware for P&W Commercial and Military engine programs with a mixture of classified and unclassified programs.
The person in this role is a member of the MSEN organization’s senior leadership team, and as such, will participate with executive leadership in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals and vision. The individual will have direct supervision of the MSEN Design and PD discipline chiefs, fellows and discipline managers and their teams to champion a culture of transformation and technical capability through P&W’s Leadership Operating Model (LOM).
The director instills trust, matures relationships, and will be responsible for building horizontal alignment and championing a culture of inclusion and engagement with Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT) & System Integrated Product Teams (SIPT), as well as with peers across the P&W value stream. The director champions engagement within their teams, across MSEN and more broadly across P&W. Since the position involves leadership across P&W sites and with external partners across the globe, organizational savvy and business judgment are important competencies for a successful candidate.
**Key Responsibilities** :
+ Strategic leadership - setting the vision that strengthens the discipline’s technical capabilities, product competitiveness, and design system capabilities while ensuring quality of execution.
+ Utilization of the CORE operating system and strong goal alignment to execute strategies.
+ Talent Development and Discipline Health – focus on advancement of the team’s technical capability and leadership skills development for both direct reporting and dotted line reporting global site teams (Connecticut, West Palm Beach, Oklahoma City, Puerto Rico, Poland, and India). Ensure talent is being readied for key leadership positions within the organization.
+ Competitive product and design system – owns identifying and advancing product technologies and design system tools & processes. This includes implementation of model-based definition and digital environment.
+ Staffing and resource planning – the responsibilities include focused recruitment, university collaborations, and outsource supplier partnering to assure skilled mix of talent to support programs.
+ Customer Engagement and RLPM collaboration - Engage with engine program chief engineers and executive leadership in areas of key technical needs to align on requirements, priorities, and technical solutions on critical tasks.
+ 10- 20% Travel is Anticipated.
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
+ 14+ years of engineering experience or 12+ years of experience with an advanced degree
+ The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
+ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and design integration
+ Experience with externals, gears, bearings & seal components is a plus
+ BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; MBA preferred
+ Experience in a CIPT or SIPT Leader or similar position is preferred
+ The candidate needs to be highly motivated, able to work across organizational boundaries and have demonstrated exceptional customer focus
+ Familiarity with engineering development processes required
+ Candidate should have strong project management and team leadership skills
+ Demonstrated strategic thinker and business innovation mindset where necessary

**Onsite** : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
