    Job Description

    The Director of Global Commercial Development (Pipeline Commercialization & Strategy)

     

    leads the full global product strategy through commercialization for assigned product lines in the Aesthetics Obesity Franchise, a key future growth platform for AbbVie. This individual contributor position is part of the Global Commercial Development organization.

     

    You collaborate across the entire research and development spectrum to align customer, consumer and commercial priorities, to maximize the potential of existing and future assets in the obesity category. This includes the development and execution of the early brand plan and early commercialization strategy, from Target and Expected Product Profile, to commercialization, inclusive of exercising a voice on the clinical study design, as well as into the regulatory strategy. This will be achieved through close collaboration and partnership with cross-franchise commercial leadership, regional marketing teams and research and development.

     

    As the global leader for product lines within obesity, you are a key contributor to the strategic planning process, supporting development of the annual long-range strategic plan, annual long-range financial plan, and annual new product portfolio planning process.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead assigned product line activities and initiatives at each development stage gate decision and milestones through commercialization

    + Commercial leader on core teams or product teams for assigned product lines and leads brand strategy teams for assigned product lines

    + Leads development of the early brand and early commercialization strategy, working together with regional marketing leads to successfully transition to launch readiness and commercialization

    + Work closely with the Commercial Leadership team to ensure there is a plan to fill gaps for key areas of focus in all key regions of existing business and planned expansion

    + Partner with external innovation and BD teams on business development opportunities in the obesity space

    + Act as the point person for commercial insights to the R&D team to make sure the development strategy matches the customer needs to secure success of the company in the future commercialization.

    + Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant portfolio and franchise specific growth opportunities

    + Excellent analytical skills (e.g., market and competitive dynamics and business performance), including development of new product forecast models, demand plan models and other forecast models that may be required

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D. or M.D.) is preferred

    + At least 10 years of relevant experience with a successful track record in pharmaceutical and/or medical device marketing - strong analytical and strategic marketing skills

    + Previous experience in Commercial Development, Pipeline Management, In-line Marketing and/or Pharma Consulting roles, preferably within Aesthetics

    + Experience in strategic positioning of products for success within competitive environments

    + Scientific acumen & therapeutic understanding, with the ability to analyze complex datasets

    + Strong financial acumen with a good understanding of P&L drivers and the ability to develop appropriate investment & sales forecasts

    + Experience with launch &/or on-market commercial teams

    + Experience working within matrix-based teams and project management

    + Works collaboratively and proactively, maintains high degree of planning, coordination & project management skills, demonstrated ability to problem solve & resolve conflict with diplomacy

    + Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functional partners outside of immediate team

    + Self-starter, learns fast, quickly grasps the essence of concepts, can change course rapidly where required, demonstrates intellectual curiosity

    + Open to suggestion & experimentation for improvement, embraces ideas from others, encourages innovation but matches innovation to reality

    + Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas & make the complex easy for others to understand

    + Executes highly effective working team meetings and is visibly inclusive and transparent in all he/she does

    + The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. Salary:​ $156,000- $296,500

    + We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs​
