    The Lead Cook is a supervisory position within the Catering Department at East Stroudsburg University. This position will provide the opportunity to lead a team and utilize culinary experience.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes within the catering department.

    + Meet event deadlines in accordance with the banquet event order(s).

    + Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed

    + Ensure all food and beverages are presented, served, and stored according to company standards and health regulations.

    + Resolve any issues or last-minute changes during events with professionalism.

    + Maintain accurate records of events, staff hours, and client feedback.

    + Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.

    + Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.

    + Safely uses a variety of utensils, including knives.

    + Operates various equipment, including ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.

    + Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods.

    + Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines.

    + Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures.

    + Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils.

    + Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.

    + Adheres to Aramark's safety policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate food safety and sanitation practices.

    + Ensures security of company assets.

    + Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

    Qualifications

    + Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service event management.

    + Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations, such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage.

    + Demonstrate basic math and counting skills.

    + Strong leadership and organizational skills.

    + Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

    + Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    + Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification preferred).

    + Must be able to acquire food safety certification.

     

    This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
