Description
Amazon seeks a talented professional to work within its Corporate Development organization. The person in this high visibility role will be responsible for evaluating a wide range of business opportunities, including M&A, investments, and other strategic opportunities. In addition, the person in this position will assist in due diligence; conduct extensive research on industries, potential partners, and investment strategies; and communicate findings and recommendations to our senior management and the executive team.
This position plays a key, active role on a small team that drives corporate transactions across businesses at Amazon. The person will support decision-making by leading the financial analyses and thinking that guide strategy formation. Many assignments will be highly ambiguous and require an independent, intellectually curious individual who can frame situations through multiple lenses including of the end-customer, business owner, and corporate finance professional.
Investment banking (coverage or M&A)/private equity/investment research/corporate development experience are critical to the functional scope of the position (e.g., financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, buy-side transaction experience, public company research, industry landscaping, and other M&A execution tasks).
Role is based in Seattle and indexes high on in-person collaboration, executive presence, and business judgment
About the team
This role will be focused on analyzing international opportunities across a number of sectors, including (but not limited to) e-commerce, physical retail, payments, operations, healthcare, media, and advertising.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related analytical field
- 5+ years of corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or other transaction-related / due diligence experience
- High proficiency with corporate valuation techniques, financial modeling, and accounting acumen
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of corporate development, private equity, or investment banking experience with a focus on the Technology or Retail sector.
- MBA
- Advanced analytical skills
- Fluency with Excel and supporting financial software (e.g. FactSet, S&P Capital IQ)
- Excellent business judgment
- Persuasive oral and written communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
