    University Advancement Engagement provides comprehensive and purposeful opportunities that support the division’s efforts to increase and amplify alumni engagement, develop a culture of philanthropy, inspire prospective and current alumni donors, and deepen the relationship between alumni and donors to CSU . Grounded in the mission and core values of University Advancement, UA Engagement incorporates the principles of excellence, purpose, gratitude, collaboration, and innovation into every aspect of our work. The UA Marketing and Communications team collaborates with central Advancement and campus partners to develop, execute, and manage alumni- and donor-centric multi-channel storytelling and promotion strategies that inspire, engage, solicit, and retain audiences while elevating the donor and alumni experience.

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Content, the Advancement Writer will create clear, compelling content designed to inspire, engage, solicit, and retain alumni and donor audiences. They will be responsible for writing a variety of high-quality written material for digital and print communications including emails, newsletters, magazines, donor impact and annual reports, fundraising proposals, websites, and other marketing collateral. They will also collaborate with other members of the UA Marketing and Communications team to develop ongoing high-impact communications associated with large-scale fundraising campaigns and other Advancement priorities.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in creative writing, journalism, communications, or related major by hire date

    + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, proofreading, and key tenets of journalism, including AP style

    + Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast, dynamic environment

    + A demonstrated ability to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences

    + Ability to travel in and out of state and work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends

    + Must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain a driver’s license, or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Two years’ experience with fundraising and donor communication or writing/editing high-quality publications with significant visibility

    + Ability to quickly shift priorities and meet tight deadlines

    + Strong understanding of language, grammar, and syntax, impeccable attention to detail

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and an affinity for learning new technology

    + Develop written content for major gift announcements, fundraising proposals, alumni and donor profiles, video scripts, impact reports, internal communications, etc. to amplify and demonstrate a compelling need for and the impact of philanthropy at Colorado State University.

    + Establish and determine overarching storytelling strategies that highlight the value and impact of philanthropy University-wide.

    + Research, write, edit and design engaging content for large-scale fundraising campaigns and ongoing Advancement communications priorities.

    + Draft clear, compelling content on behalf of students, donors, faculty, staff, senior leadership, and other constituents to tell the story of donor and alumni impact

    + Strategize, and implement comprehensive written communications pieces for the Division to advance its mission and goals in alignment with University branding/messaging efforts.

    + Manage a diverse portfolio of writing assignments including research with ability to utilize data and analytics for supporting documentation.

    + Utilize a project management software to align tasks and complete projects while adhering to strict deadlines.

    + Collaborate with the UA MarComm team as well as internal and external resources and stakeholder partners (Colleges and Units) to ensure flawless, on­ time, and high impact delivery of advancement communications components.

    + Serve as resource, and written content area expert to other units, departments and divisions within Colorado State University for fundraising, alumni, and donor relations strategies.
