    Waste Connections (Oneida, TN)


    Are you mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and passionate about environmental stewardship? Waste Connections is hiring a **hands-on Environmental Technician** to support landfill gas systems, leachate collection, and compliance operations across two key sites.

    What You’ll Do

    + Spend **60% of your time at Laurel Ridge Landfill (Lily, KY)** and **40% at Volunteer Landfill (Oneida, TN)**

    + Monitor and tune landfill gas well fields

    + Perform general well field maintenance (extend wells, pull pumps, run new lines)

    + Assist with leachate collection system operations

    + Conduct routine inspections and take well field readings

    + Support compliance tasks including monthly reports, site observations, and inspections

    + Collaborate with gas plant technicians and landfill operators on daily operations

    + Identify and mitigate environmental hazards (e.g., leachate seeps)

    + Lead or assist in repairs to reduce environmental risks

    + Track and support contractor work and post-audit corrections

    + Interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams

    + Assist with ordering parts and understanding budgeting processes

    What We’re Looking For

    + Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field **preferred**

    + Mechanical or technical background **a plus**

    + Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics

    + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

    + Experience with compliance systems (e.g., iAuditor) **preferred**

    + Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

    + Leadership mindset with the ability to direct field repairs and contractors
