Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for an **Senior** **Software Engineer** to join our **Outbound Science & Technology** team in Seattle. As a key member of a diverse and dynamic engineering team, you will lead the design and build scalable services, frameworks, and machine learning models that enhance our customers’ delivery experience and optimize Chewy’s fulfillment operations. In this role, you will demonstrate your technical expertise to deliver robust engineering designs and implementations that align with business objectives. Additionally, you will lead the engineering team and work closely with cross-functional partners to develop the next-generation distributed event system, tackling critical challenges within our fulfillment networks.
What You’ll Do:
+ Design, and develop large-scale distributed systems with large volumes of data focusing on scalability, latency, and fault tolerance.
+ Be responsible for delivering projects, designing systems, and mentoring junior engineers.
+ Participate in team’s roadmap planning and estimation process, ensure project are delivered according to the estimation.
+ Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following standard methodologies in software engineering. Ensure that all code is well-documented and undergoes rigorous peer review.
+ Advocate for and implement software engineering standard processes that enable automated testing, version control and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
+ Leverage and champion operational excellence that enable system obsevebility and alarming. Continuously measure system availability and optimize system performance
+ Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including scientists, product managers, and operations collaborators, to deliver effective solutions that meet business objectives.
What You’ll Need:
+ Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Engineering or related field) or equivalent work experience
+ 8+ years of professional software development experience focusing on modern Java(or similar OO language). Familiarity with modern web development using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).
+ Phenomenal coding and debugging skills.
+ Experience leading the design (data structures, algorithms, performance, reliability, and scalability) and development of new software programs
+ Proven experience in building distributed, highly available and high-performance systems
+ Experience designing and implementing scalable RESTful services and APIs
+ Understanding of CI/CD pipeline including containerization, configuration management, and deployment
+ Experience with cloud native technology stacks such as AWS, Azure, GCP
+ Ability to simultaneously support multiple high priority projects in a fast-paced environment
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus:
+ Experience in supply chain tech and/or e-commerce
+ Familiarity with AWS native cloud
+ Experience with Machine Learning workflow including data processing, model training and deployment

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
Base Salary Range
$143,000—$229,000 USD
