    Overview

     

    Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

     

    Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a **_Underground Maintenance Coordinator_** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will support the Underground Maintenance Managers and Supervisors. Support planned work activities by helping with the development of work instructions and procedures need for work performance including documented changes as required for work being actively performed in the field. May be required to help research schematics and/or manuals for the materials. Be qualified and able to fill in as Field Work Supervisors (FWS) when needed which includes passing a Pulmonary Function Test and qualify wearing and working in a respirator. Must be willing to work in the Contaminated area. Performing routine tasks including following all safety procedures, regulation, and policies. Conduct frequent underground inspections of work areas to assure that safe conditions are maintained. Complete and maintain training as required to perform work in accordance with site policies and procedures and any other task related to supporting underground maintenance operations.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Associate’s degree with two (2) years of relevant experience, or

    + High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of relevant experience is required.

    + Experience must include two (2) years in mining, maintenance, and/or work control activities.

    + Three (3) years of nuclear experience is required.

    **This position is included in the Training Implementation Matrix (TIM) therefore alternatives tonuclear experiencemay be reviewed and met in accordance with company policy MP 4.7.

    + Alternatives to Nuclear Requirements: Experience in design, construction, and operational training may be considered applicable nuclear experience and must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and approved and documented. (1) Where course work is related to job assignments, post-secondary education may be substituted. Formal education must not be allowed to substitute for more than 50 percent of the experience requirement, except as otherwise provided in the “Table 1 Notes” set forth in “APPENDIX 1” of the TIM, and (2) Job-related training in the position sought may qualify as the equivalent to nuclear experience on a one-for-one basis for up to a maximum of two years. **_You must submit additional documentation (e.g., transcripts, certificates, licenses) with your application if seeking alternatives to nuclear experience requirements._**

     

    _Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information._

    Preferred Requirements

    + Preference given to candidates with experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (preferably CHAMPS).

    + DOE nuclear experience is desired.

    + Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

    Exempt grade level(s) 25-30. Minimum salary $56,888 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
