    Job Title: Plant Lean Six Sigma Assistant Manager

     

    Reports To: Engineering Manager

     

    Focus: Cost Improvements for Internal and External Stakeholders and Lean Trainings

     

    Work Type: Full-time, on-site

     

    Work Hours: 40 hours/week (Shift 4, United States of America)

     

    Travel: 10% domestic and international

     

    Compensation Grade: M03

    Job Summary

    The Plant Lean Six Sigma Manager provides site-level process excellence and Lean transformation expertise. This role supports the development, documentation, implementation, and validation of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) applications, driving cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement. The role also supports organizational development through education and engagement in Lean Six Sigma practices.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Site Alignment with Lean Six Sigma Vision and Strategy

    + Collaborate with the Regional Lean Manager to integrate and sustain a Lean Six Sigma culture.

    + Partner with Operations Managers and Business Unit Managers to align Lean Six Sigma initiatives with business objectives.

    + Advise management on Lean project selection, resource integration, and prioritization.

    + Monitor and continuously improve Lean initiatives related to productivity and quality.

    + Identify and implement cost-saving and process streamlining opportunities.

    2. Building a Lean Production System and Lean Six Sigma Culture

    + Act as a leader, mentor, and coach for Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement.

    + Develop and manage systems for education, motivation, empowerment, and involvement.

    + Encourage cross-training, teamwork, skills assessment, and employee development.

    + Model desired behaviors and core values; promote a respectful and collaborative environment.

    + Support and lead cultural transformation through Lean-based coaching and mentoring.

    + Promote experimentation and problem-solving using scientific methods.

    + Stay updated on Lean methodologies via industry networking and certifications.

    + Collaborate with Human Resources on Lean rewards and recognition programs.

    + Work with Finance to reflect Lean project impacts in financial processes.

    + Contribute as a valued member of the site management team.

    3. System Measurement and Feedback

    + Track key continuous improvement metrics and ensure data integrity.

    + Develop suggestion systems and recognition programs to support innovation.

    + Collaborate with the Regional Lean Six Sigma Manager to improve training and tools.

    + Use employee feedback and operational insights to recommend Lean program improvements.

    4. Program and Cultural Sustainability

    + Mentor local Lean leaders and coaches to build sustainable improvement capability.

    + Support the creation of global-standard Lean policies and procedures.

    + Meet and exceed customer expectations by addressing challenges promptly.

    + Adhere to all safety, health, ethics, and security policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge Requirements

    + Expertise in change management, project management, and financial management.

    + Strong financial analysis skills and statistical knowledge.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    + Continuous personal improvement and professional development.

    + Ability to communicate effectively in writing and presentations.

    + In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industrial Engineering.

    + Proficiency in PC tools and software, including client-specific platforms.

    + Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.

    + Experience with regional and global Lean knowledge-sharing initiatives.

    Education & Experience Requirements

    + 3–5 years’ experience in manufacturing management, engineering management, or project management.

    + Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.

    + Six Sigma Black Belt certification from a recognized body (e.g., ASQ, SME, Shingo Prize).

    + Experience in a matrixed environment and organizational change management.

    + Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    Working Conditions

    + Standard office hours with some overtime required.

    + Position is based in a climate-controlled office with access to the production floor.
