Job Summary
The Sleep Technologist - Non Registered supports diagnostic sleep studies and related procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. This role prepares patients for studies, monitors sleep patterns, and collects data during sleep studies under the supervision of registered sleep technologists or other healthcare providers. The Sleep Technologist maintains equipment, documents findings accurately, and ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Essential Functions
+ Prepares and positions patients for sleep studies, explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
+ Monitors and records patient physiological data, including brain waves, heart rate, breathing, and oxygen levels, throughout the study.
+ Assists with the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of polysomnography and other sleep-related equipment.
+ Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of patient data and observations during sleep studies.
+ Follows protocols for cleaning, storing, and maintaining equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
+ Responds to patient needs during studies, addressing any concerns to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
+ Communicates effectively with supervising technologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to report findings and concerns.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ 0-1 years of experience in a clinical or healthcare environment required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Basic knowledge of sleep study procedures and polysomnography equipment.
+ Attention to detail for accurate data collection and documentation.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and provide a reassuring presence.
+ Ability to follow protocols and troubleshoot equipment under supervision.
+ Organizational skills to manage multiple patient cases and ensure data accuracy.
Licenses and Certifications
+ BCLS - Basic Life Support required
