    ManTech (Columbia, MD)


    ManTech seeks a driven and collaborative **Backend Develope** r to join our team in **Columbia, MD** . In this role, you will contribute to the development and deployment of backend services supporting mission-focused, scalable applications. You will apply your knowledge of backend technologies, DevOps practices, and cybersecurity compliance to enhance system reliability, performance, and authorization processes in a secure enterprise environment. You will play a critical role in supporting enterprise infrastructure capabilities for a global mission-focused workforce. This position is part of a high-visibility effort supporting the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) organization responsible for MPO’s Enterprise Information Technology (EIT)—the foundational platform for enterprise-wide users. You will partner with customers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and vendors to help deliver advanced EIT capabilities through Data Center & Compute Services.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    + As a backend developer, you will build and maintain service components in a dynamic development environment. You will also support system compliance by helping maintain inventories and documentation across system lifecycles.

    + Integrate with service mesh technologies such as Istio to manage traffic and security

    + Utilize Kafka for reliable data streaming and event-driven architecture

    + Use Flux, Kubectl, and Kustomize to support GitOps-based Kubernetes deployments

    + Leverage Docker for containerization and Maven for build automation

    + Collaborate with teams via Jira and Confluence to manage requirements, track progress, and document solutions

    + Perform development and analysis in Linux environments using Python (including notebooks) and IntelliJ IDEA (IDE)

    + Participate in Secure the Enterprise (STE) and Secure the Network (STN) activities

    + Review Xacta notices and complete SEAR audit log records

    + Review and address POAMs (Plan of Action and Milestones) for IAVA findings

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree with twelve (12) years of relevant experience

    + OR Associate’s degree with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience

    + OR High School Diploma/GED with twenty (20) years of relevant experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with Istio and Rancher in managing service meshes and Kubernetes clusters

    + Proficiency in Redis, Kafka, Docker, Maven, and GitOps workflows using Flux

    + Familiarity with Kubectl, Kustomize, and Linux system development

    + Background using Jira, Confluence, and the IntelliJ IDEA IDE

    + Working knowledge of Python scripting and notebook-based data analysis

    + Experience with Gatekeeper, Xacta, SEAR, LatteArt, STE/STN activities, and POAM management

    Clearance Requirements:

    + Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph

    Physical Requirements:

    + Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

    + Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

    + Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
