    Medical Assistant (Certified) Lead

    A Brief Overview

     

    The Lead Medical Assistant (MA) works as part of the clinical team, following provider and office leadership orders to provide high quality, clinical care of patients. Work assignments include oversight of regulatory guidelines, vaccine and safety protocols, educating the team on standardized workflows, oversight of supplies and inventory, and optimized use of clinical staff. The Lead MA will support the practice manager with training, competency validation of clinical staff, interviews and evaluations, and reconciliation of referrals and orders. The Lead MA will delegate tasks to the team as appropriate to ensure patient needs are addressed in a timely manner. The Lead MA supports related medical and clerical support functions, ensuring patients receive excellent customer service.

    What you will do

    + Accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams.

    + Performing and documenting vital signs.

    + Assisting with procedures.

    + Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization,

    + Performing EKGs.

    + Using CPR skills when required.

    + Drawing blood.

    + providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets.

    + Responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.

    + Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

    Education Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or equivalent Required

    + Associate's Degree or Medical Terminology course completion Preferred

    Experience Qualifications

    + At least five (5) years' experience Required

    + Experience in physician office setting Preferred

    + Phlebotomy experience Preferred

    Skills and Abilities

    + Ability to work with PC’s

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task

    Licenses and Certifications

    + Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association Required or

    + Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist Required or

    + National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing Required or

    + Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Required

    + Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years Required
