    Finishing Machine Operator - 2nd Shift (2:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    Sets up and operates machine to cut folding cartons by performing the following duties.

     

    **JOB FUNCTIONS:** _Job functions include, but are not limited to the following._

    + Operates production machinery in accordance with company standards

    + Make-ready, adjusts and runs job as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards

    + Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances

    + Obtains job tickets and reviews prior to running orders

    + Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications

    + Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces

    + Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance

    + Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area

    + Ensures that appropriate contact relief is made, and machine hands-off occurs during shift changes

    + Works as a leader of the crew, overseeing operator assistants, feeders, packers, and inspectors working on the machine

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

    + High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

    + 1-3 years related experience and/or training

    SKILLS:

    + Ability to troubleshoot, adjust and debug to finalize most machine lines required in-house or at the customer’s facility

    + Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices and strong problem-solving skills

    + Ability to interpret and translate designs and documentation

    + Basic mechanical ability to adjust the equipment to maximize production and ensure quality standards are met or exceeded

    + Ability to match or detect differences between colors

    + Maintain cooperative working relationships, demonstrates a positive attitude and consideration towards fellow employees and supervision

    + Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Basic computer and data entry skills

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    + Must be able to work 8 hour shifts plus overtime as required.

    + Would train on days before transition to 2nd shift.

    + Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    + Standing: 34-66% of time

    + Walking: 34-66% of time

    + Pushing/Pulling: Frequently with a force of 10 lbs. Occasionally with a force of 50 lbs. Rarely with a force of 10 lbs.

    + Lifting: Frequently with a force of 10 lbs. Occasionally with a force of 50 lbs. Rarely with a force of 10 lbs.

    + Frequent stair climbing, kneeling, crouching, balance, forward bending/standing, right and left hand coordination.

    + Occasional right and left hand grip, elevated work, repetitive squat, repetitive reaching, step ladder climbing, rotation sitting.

    + Wear PPE when required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection etc.

    + Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.

    + Use of various office equipment.
