    The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property.     The Team You’ll Work With

     

    The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations (DMO) works to advance the City's efforts to address policy matters across the five boroughs, coordinate operational efforts across the City's public agencies, improve access to services for all New Yorkers, and ensure agencies are run compassionately and effectively. The Deputy Mayor oversees 8 city agencies and 1 mayoral office: DOT, DEP, DSNY, DOB, DDC, SCA, Parks, TLC, and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice.

     

    The Problems You’ll Solve

     

    The Senior Advisor will be a key member of the DMO team and will oversee the development of policy and projects that touch on public realm, infrastructure, and/or climate initiatives. The Senior Advisor will be the critical liaison with government counterparts as well as major authorities, elected officials, and advocates. S/he will have the opportunity to represent the Deputy Mayor on relevant panels, public engagements and press events.

     

    The Senior Advisor will provide guidance on public realm / infrastructure / capital project / climate initiatives and support the advancement of the Administration’s priorities. This will include, but is not limited to:

    - Interagency Coordination and Communication:

    o Represent the Deputy Mayor for Operations Office in meetings and communications with city agencies and external stakeholders on the scope, status, and progress of a project.

    o Provide and develop strategic guidance, direction, and assistance, with an understanding of operational feasibility on execution.

    o Develop productive relationships with project stakeholders (internal and external to the City) and generate cooperation and buy-in on policy and project direction and implementation.

    o Lead inter-agency working groups and task forces.

    o Build a network of subject matter experts to provide context and direction.

    o Ensure the appropriate Mayor’s Office teams, including Communications and Intergovernmental, are informed and involved where needed on major initiatives.

    - Project Management:

    o Provide program and project administration and oversight, especially on sensitive, logistically complex, and high-visibility initiatives.

    o Guide Agency staff who establish, implement, and monitor aggressive and streamlined schedules, budgets, and deliverables while mitigating setbacks and impacts.

    o Anticipate regulatory processes and critical path items to ensure that they do not impede the progress of project goals and objectives.

    - Writing, Analysis, and Presentation:

    o Comfortability simplifies complex concepts and nuanced details into crisp and easy to understand formats and language.

    o Issue direction and set goals for internal staff.

    o Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all levels.

    o Demonstrated experience successfully establishing working relationships and finding opportunities to enhance relations with internal and external stakeholders.

    o Must be able to work independently, organize work and prioritize multiple assignments within established deadlines, keeping projects moving.

    o Awareness of federal, state, and local political platforms, including issues of concern to the Mayor’s Office.

    o Presents to internal and external executive management as required.

     

    About You

     

    - You are a graduate from with a baccalaureate degree, preferably in urban planning architecture, landscape architecture, or design, engineering, public administration, or related fields, plus 7-10 years of full-time relevant professional experience in a field related to this position.

     

    - You have demonstrated experience in policy, urban planning, project management, operations, or government.

     

    - You have exceptional written, verbal, and communication skills.

     

    - You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

     

    - You have the ability to self-manage and conduct rigorous research and outreach, attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.

     

    - You have experience in the infrastructure or public space, civic engagement, and/or equitable development, are desirable.

     

    - You are proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite.

     

    - You have a willingness to work as part of a team environment.

     

    - You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

     

    - You have New York City or state government work experience or relevant is a plus.

    Qualifications

    1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

    2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

    3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

    4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?

    Salary Min: $155,000.00

     

    Salary Max: $189,096.00
