    Assistant Materials Manager

     

    _Greater Duncan, SC Area | Full-Time | Manufacturing / Logistics_

     

    Our client in the greater Duncan area is seeking an experienced **Assistant Materials Manager** to oversee plant-level materials, inventory, transportation, and supplier management. This is a high-visibility role that supports production efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective material planning and logistics leadership.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Oversee MRP parameters and material control processes

    + Manage supplier releases, incoming shipments, and inventory accuracy

    + Monitor supplier performance for delivery and quality

    + Maintain BOM data and implement engineering changes

    + Reduce obsolescence and minimize inventory levels

    + Lead and train materials supervisors and handlers

    + Ensure compliance with IATF, safety standards, and environmental regulations

    + Track freight costs, optimize truckload utilization, and manage container programs

    + Ensure timely operation and safety compliance of all material handling equipment

    + Support inventory accuracy through regular audits and physical inventories

    + Assist with PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and customer-specific requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

    + 3–5 years of experience in Materials Management in a manufacturing environment

    + Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

    + Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting

    Preferred Skills:

    + Working knowledge of logistics cost control, supplier relations, and lean processes

    + Experience with transportation optimization and returnable container tracking

    + Familiarity with plant-wide audits, cycle counts, and regulatory compliance

    **Pay Details:** $95,000.00 to $108,000.00 per year
