    Join Our Team as a Mental Health Counselor for our Nassau Child Advocacy Center.

EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated full time Mental Health Counselor to join the Nassau Child Advocacy Center.

     

    Wage: $35 to $40 per hourSchedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday- Friday with evenings and weekends as neededLocation: 15 Grumman Road W, Suite 1000 Bethpage NY 11714

     

    The EAC Nassau County Child Advocacy Center located in Bethpage, NY provides for children a safe and respectful response to situations involving allegations of sex crimes. The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for assessing and counseling to victims of child sexual abuse, human trafficking and or commercial sexual exploitation. This includes promoting a trauma-informed approach through individual and group counseling, as well as making referrals to other community agencies. The Mental Health Counselor will be a part of the Nassau County Child Advocacy Center’s Multi-Disciplinary Team and will coordinate relationships between other MDT members and additional human services agencies as needed.

    What You'll Be Doing

    + Provide trauma-informed therapy for minor victims of human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse/assault and their non-offending family members.

    + Continually assess the needs of the victims and their families and reflect these needs in staffing, evaluations, treatment plans, and chart notes.

    + Assist with applying for public benefits, employment, medical care, return of personal property and short- and long-term coordination of such services.

    + Make appropriate referrals for medical exams, mental health services, residential assistance,

    + Document the services required to ensure accurate case records are maintained in CAC database.

    + Maintain accurate database of professional referral resources that assist stated population.

    + Provide back-up and support to CAC and MDT.

    + Prepare monthly and quarterly statistical and annual reports as required by funding source.

    + Participate in MDT meetings as needed

    + Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:

    + Master’s degree/licensure/ certification in a related mental health field or a Master’s degree in a related mental health field and working toward licensure and preferably receiving supervision by a licensed mental health professional.

    + Experience delivering an evidence- supported mental health treatment such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent-Child Interaction therapy (PCIT), Alternatives for Families Cognitive Behavior Therapy (AF-CBT), Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

    + Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred.

    + Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.

    + Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

    + Must have access to automobile and possess valid NYS driver’s license.

    + Evening and weekend flexibility required.
