Northwestern State University (NSU) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and inspirational leader to serve as the next Dean of the College of Business and Technology. This is a 12-month administrative appointment and a unique opportunity for an accomplished scholar, innovative educator, and strategic administrator to lead a college positioned for growth and impact.
About the College:
The College of Business and Technology, accredited through the Association to Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACHPA) enrolls approximately 1,265 undergraduate students and offers bachelor' s and master's degrees in the areas of Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Information Systems - both in-person and online. The College also houses Hospitality Management and Tourism, with concentrations in culinary arts, hospitality services, and travel and tourism. A new partnership with IBM enhances program offerings, and the Computer Information Systems program has been recognized among the best in the nation.
Role of the Dean:
The next Dean of the College of Business and Technology at Northwestern State University will lead a first-class faculty, dedicated staff, and mission-driven student body. This leadership transition comes at a time of exciting transformation for the University, with a renewed strategic vision that will shape the College's future. The Dean will navigate emerging challenges in business and technology, particularly those facing underserved communities, while aligning academic programs with workforce demands. As one of five academic deans, the Dean provides academic and administrative oversight for the Coll e and plays a key role in advancing university-wide goals.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education (terminal degrees in business related field or hospitality management and tourism preferred; other fields considered.)
+ Eligibility for Graduate Faculty status.
+ Academic credentials commensurate with the rank of full professor at a regionally accredited four-year institution.
+ Minimum of five years' administrative experience at the level of department head or higher and exhibited consensus-building among colleagues.
+ Demonstrated success in teaching, scholarship, and service.
+ Experience with programmatic and institutional accreditation ( e.g., AACSB, ACHP A, etc.)
Job Duties and Other Information
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Provide strategic leadership amongst faculty and staff to ensure continuous improvement in academic and student programs, including new program development.
+ Maintain and enhance the quality of the College in support of accreditation.
+ Oversee fiscal planning, resource allocation, and personnel development.
+ Collaborate with the directors of the School of Business and Hospitality Management and Tourism to meet the evolving needs of the University and region.
+ Assist in developing and implementing evaluation and review systems for faculty, courses, and programs.
+ Contribute to the effective management of campus operations and academic course delivery.
+ Support the development of resource allocation priorities to best serve faculty and student needs.
+ Engage in university strategic planning and support institutional initiatives.
+ Expand and maintain global partnerships with industry, community stakeholders, and alumni.
+ Lead fundraising and grant development efforts on behalf of the College.
+ Represent the College within the University and to external constituencies.
+ Support shared governance, transparent management, and data-informed decision making.
+ Foster a student-centered, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
+ May teach occasional courses and engage with students directly.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND EXPECTATIONS:
+ Assume academic and fiscal leadership for the College of Business and Technology.
+ Support the President and Executive Vice President/Provost in carrying out institutional priorities.
+ Serve as the creative leader of Business and Technology: promote faculty development, curriculum innovation, public relations, and program visibility.
+ Oversee the management of the College to ensure effective, cost-conscious college operations.
+ Participate in all official University functions labeled as such by the President or Executive Vice President (commencement and other called meetings) and maintain a fulltime campus presence ( 40 hours/week as per policy.)
+ Supervise and evaluate faculty, address student issues and concerns.
+ Participate in scholarly or professional activities aligned with the role.
+ Create and foster a caring, positive, student-focused academic environment.
+ Comply with University of Louisiana System policies, including the Board of Supervisors Compensatory Time Policy.
+ Adhere to the mandates of the Constitution and Laws of the State of Louisiana which regulate the activity and employment of state employees including but not limited to the Code of Governmental Ethics and Dual Office Holding and Dual Employment.
